So you want to update the exterior of your home? That's great! Many people in our neighborhood have repainted and sided their homes in beautiful new colors. Some have added sharp new landscaping, while others have installed new roofs following storm damage. One family even rebuilt a portion of their house after a tree fell through it. Yikes!

Your friendly neighborhood homeowner's association reminds us that an exterior alteration plan must be submitted to the PPHA board before any alterations are made that will affect the exterior composition of our property.

Why have a review process?

The value of a single-family home can be affected by the appearance of other single-family homes nearby. Therefore, to protect our homeowners, lenders, and the City, our CC&R’s (Covenants, Conditions & Restrictions) provides for a system of review and approval for exterior changes we wish to make to our properties. These covenants were written when this neighborhood was formed, and all of us agreed to follow them when we purchased our homes.

The importance of abiding by the Review Process goes beyond our agreement to be legally bound by it when we purchased our single-family homes. It can work only if we apply it fairly and uniformly when evaluating applications by our neighbors. The purpose of the system is not to impose unnecessary controls and restrictions, but rather to protect the value of one of the most important investments each of us will ever make—our single-family homes.
